Flex Passes and Points

Flex passes and points come with the Ultimate and Value meal plans. Only flex passes come with the Custom meal plan. If you want to add on points to the Custom meal plan or you are a student in on/off campus apartments and would like a points account you can submit your request by filling out our online form. The use of residential meal plan flex passes and points begins on the first day of service in the dining halls and ends on the last day of service for each semester. HOW AND WHERE CAN I USE MY FLEX PASSES?

Flex passes that come with residential meal plans can be used in two ways:

  1. To allow guests to dine with you in the dining halls. One flex pass per guest.
  2. One Value Meal at the following locations:

Cafes: CrossRoads, Beanery, nanoßyte Cafe,
Bookworms, Market Café
One bagel, salad, sandwich, or small mac & cheese

+ one bag of chips or fruit

+ small coffee or one select bottled beverage
(Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Ginger Ale, AHA, Dasani Water, and Minute Maid OJ, Cranberry or Apple).

Bagel includes cream cheese, butter, or peanut butter.

Earth, Wok & Fire (Student Union)
  • General Tso Chicken, white rice, and a beverage (fountain or Dasani bottled water).
  • Vegetable Fried Rice, one egg roll, and a beverage (fountain or Dasani bottled water).
  • Vegetable Lo Mein, one egg roll, and a beverage (fountain or Dasani bottled water).
Union Street Market: Pompeii Oven Pizza Station (Student Union) One slice of cheese or pepperoni pizza
+ one bag of chips or fruit
+ beverage (fountain drink or Dasani bottled water)
Grab & Go's (Gelfenbien Dining Hall & Putnam Dining Hall) One salad or sandwich
+ one bag of chips or fruit
+ fountain beverage

 

  • Your flex passes and points are on your OneCard. You need to have your OneCard with you to make purchases.
  • Value meals are one meal per transaction. Sorry, no substitutions are allowed on any of the value meals.
  • Unused flex passes do not roll over to the next semester and cannot be refunded.
  • For value meals, one flex pass is allowed per transaction at the register however there is no limit on the number of times you can use a flex pass during the day. 
  • One (1) flex pass will be deducted for each guest you admit to the dining hall. You can bring more than one guest with you.
  • If you have an issue using a flex pass at a certain location, please ask to speak to the manager or contact us through our online form.
  • Check Your Flex Pass Balance: Next time you use a flex pass ask the staff member at the dining hall entrance or retail register for your balance.

HOW AND WHERE CAN I USE MY POINTS?

One Point = One Dollar

Points may be used in three ways:
  1. Purchase a meal in any of our dining halls for guest(s)
  2. Purchase a meal in the dining halls for yourself  (if you are using a cash points account)
  3. Purchases at participating UConn Dining retail operations (see list below)

  • Beanery Cafe (Benton Museum)
  • nanoByte Cafe (Science 1 - 1st floor)
  • Bookworms Cafe (Library)
  • CrossRoads Cafe (Wilbur Cross Building)
  • Market Cafe (Student Union - Lower Level)
  • Union Street Market food court (Student Union - Lower Level)
  • One Plate, Two Plates (Student Union - Lower Level)
  • Earth, Wok & Fire (Student Union - Lower Level)
  • Mango (Rec Center)

Other UConn Dining Retail locations you can use your points:

  • Mort's Cafe - (Student Center, UConn Avery Point Campus)

MEAL PRICES IN THE DINING HALLS Breakfast $9.00 ($6.15 children age 5-10) Brunch $16.60 ($12.00 children age 5-10) Lunch $14.00 ($10.00 children age 5-10) Dinner $18.00 ($13.00 children age 5-10) No charge for children under the age of 5. Prices effective Sept 1, 2024-Aug 31, 2025 (prices do not include tax). Sales tax is 7.35% – tax is exempt for any individual with a UConn ID.
Points cannot be used at: Union Exchange Convenience Store (C-Store), UConn Dairy Bar, Food for the Pack Food Truck, or the UConn Dairy Bar Truck. Points are also not accepted at Starbucks, Subway, or Dunkin Donuts on campus as they are not affiliated with UConn Dining Services.
  • Your points are on your OneCard. You need to have your OneCard with you to make purchases.
  • Points attached to meal plans are per semester. Unused points do not roll over to the next semester and cannot be refunded.
  • If you add extra points to your meal plan or purchase a cash point account these points do roll over. Requested refunds for these points are issued only when the students graduates or leaves the University (at the value they were originally purchased).
  • All cash point accounts that are inactive for a whole semester will be closed.
  • Check your points balance by logging into your OneCard account.

Questions about Husky Bucks

Husky Bucks can be used as payment method at all the UConn Dining Services location. Dining does not manage Husky Bucks. Please visit the One Card website for more details on how Husky Bucks can be used and added to your ID card.
