  • Fall Farm Fridays run 1st Friday of fall semester classes in August through last Friday of October

Have fun meeting students from all across campus while engaging in a variety of spring farming activities including planting seeds to grow fresh healthy food for our UConn community. This is a great way to earn community service hours. Remember to dress for outdoor conditions including warm water-repellant footwear.

Transportation is provided. The shuttle vans leave and return from Werth Tower on Alumni Drive. Shuttle pickup is at 3:45 and returns on campus at 6:15.

Tuesday Tours – (summer only) – Closed 2021

  • 3:30-7:30 PM
  • Every Tuesday beginning the 3rd week of May through the 2nd week of August.

We invite you to visit UConn’s own Spring Valley Student Farm (SVSF) every Tuesday, throughout the summer, from 3:30 to 7:30 PM.  The students living and working at SVSF will lead guided tours of the fields, greenhouses, and edible forest garden where they cultivate a wide variety of sustainably grown vegetables, herbs, edible flowers, and small fruits.

You will also have the opportunity to learn about the ongoing Aquaponic, Solar Thermal, Sustainable Community Food System course and many other sustainability projects. The tours are open to all! Remember to dress for outdoor conditions.

Would you like to roll up your sleeves and play in the soil? Would you like to learn about food production using organic methods? Then join us on Tuesdays for some hands-on fun with plants and soil.

No previous experience is necessary! We provide the tools, techniques, and opportunity to explore the fascinating world of healthy local food production. Remember to dress for outdoor conditions.
